There are fans, friends and family. And there are people who happen to be all three. Dave was one of those rare breeds.
His success was seen as a United States Marine, a husband, dad and granddad as well as a business executive who set the high benchmark of how to act appropriately in every situation. Sadly, a long-term illness had the final say on his stay on this earth.
It did show all of us how one should live their life and finish the race before us. Dave finished strong.
While I had planned to run another race for Dave, his finish line approached faster than any of us thought. The perfect race for such a time as this was the Shamrock Shuffle. A ten-mile race through the hills of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. It was a day before his memorial service here.
The run was a personal best, it would have been an all-time best if Dave were able to watch it in person.
I was happy to run that race for Dave. He has always been a big support and a source of great insight.
