At age 22 I gave birth to twin boys.
My son Thomas was delivered dead.
My son Matthew was born with no brain, only a brain stem.
He was able to feel pain, know when he was hungry, and knew the sound of my voice as I cared for him.
He was legally blind and deaf.
He never learned to crawl, or walk.
He passed away two months, shy of his third birthday.
I run for Matthew. I run the race, I do not walk, unless the hills are too steep, and he runs with me in my heart.
I run for those who never had the chance to run…
