Geri Lynn ran the 2026 Rio Grande One Medal 5k on August 9, 2026 in memory of Trey, who died in May, 2026 of childhood cancer.

Here is a memoir provided by his mother, Karole & cousin, Saraht:

Trey Edmonds was truly a one-of-a-kind soul. He was endlessly kind, deeply empathetic, and one of the best listeners I’ve ever known. Trey had such a unique way of seeing the world and an incredible ability to make people laugh. Whether he was explaining, in excruciating detail, every corner of the marvel universe or quoting random Sponge Bob episodes, conversations were never boring.

He was a video game expert, a Boy Scout leader lovingly known as “THawk, and a wonderful writer. There seemed to be almost nothing Trey couldn’t do if given the chance. But beyond all of his talents, what made Trey extraordinary was his spirit.

Trey lived the final years of his short life in unimaginable pain, yet somehow, you would never know it. He remained strong, passionate, funny, and full of love. He was one of the strongest people I have ever known.

Trey was and always will be so extremely loved. He is missed more than words can express, but his memory, his spirit, and the love he gave us will always be carried with us.
