One Medal partner’s with Rio Grande Half, 5K and One Mile Walk for Encouragement
Participants in the August 14, 2022 Lovelace Rio Grande Half Marathon and The Garrity Group 5K and One Medal Walk for Encouragement will have an opportunity to add additional meaning to their training and effort.
One Medal is partnering with the race sponsors and organizers to provide a way for athletes to provide encouragement to a family member, friend or to support a cause that is important to the participants. Runners registered for the Lovelace Rio Grande Half Marathon and The Garrity Group 5K/One Mile Walk for encouragement will have a chance to honor someone in a variety of ways:
- During registration, participants will have a chance to acknowledge their honoree for a post-race certificate.
- During the race, there will be a space on the jersey for the participant to write-in their honoree’s name.
- After the race, participants will get a special medal and can share their reason for running on video for inclusion on the OneMedal.com websites.
The past two years have taught us many lessons, not the least of which is the positive power of encouragement! One Medal is an affinity program where athletes participate in races as an encouragement for another person.
The first-ever One Medal 5K Run and One Mile Walk for Encouragement, presented by The Garrity Group Public Relations, will take place Sunday August 14, 2022 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque’s North Valley. This race aims to empower participants to honor their friends, loved ones and community members who have faced hardship.
“Every athlete has one race, one medal and encouragement to give someone,” says Tom Garrity, One Medal founder and Garrity Group president. “The last two years have shown us how important it is to support one another. My hope is that people will use this run or walk as a way to honor someone who is either in need of encouragement or in the midst of going through what appears to be insurmountable adversity.”
One Medal (onemedal.com) is an affinity running program started by Tom Garrity, president of The Garrity Group Public Relations. The firm is sponsoring the 5K run and one mile walk for encouragement.
